Week A | June 25 – 28 | AM or PM Session | Choose 1, 2, or All 3 Days
Start your child’s summer off right!
1) Castle Construction
3D Print & Design Pathway
Wednesday | June 26 | 3hrs | AM or PM Session
Challenge –
Design and bring your dream castle to life! Start by creating a detailed castle design using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, and then translate your digital creation into the Minecraft universe. Explore the principles of architectural design, creativity, and virtual construction.
Learning Objectives –
- CAD Design Mastery:
- Objective: Acquire proficiency in basic CAD software
- Outcome: Students will demonstrate the ability to create a detailed and imaginative castle design using CAD, considering architectural elements such as towers, walls, gates, and courtyards.
- Virtual Construction in Minecraft:
- Objective: Apply CAD design principles to recreate the designed castle in the Minecraft game environment.
- Outcome: Students will showcase their understanding of virtual construction, spatial awareness, and creativity by successfully building their CAD-designed castle in Minecraft and exploring the translation of digital designs into a virtual space.
2) Teleportation Defenses
Code Hacking Pathway
Thursday | June 27 | 3hrs | AM or PM Session
Challenge –
Design a Python script to enhance Minecraft gameplay by coding teleportation mechanisms to different castle defense destinations using the Minecraft Java Edition API. Dive into the world of game development as you leverage Python to create dynamic and customized teleportation experiences within Minecraft.
Learning Objectives –
- Minecraft API Familiarity:
- Objective: Develop a solid understanding of the Minecraft Java Edition API.
- Outcome: Students will be able to navigate the Minecraft API documentation, identify key methods for player manipulation, and comprehend the overall structure of the API.
- Python Scripting for Minecraft Teleportation:
- Objective: Acquire proficiency in using Python scripts to manipulate Minecraft gameplay.
- Outcome: Students will be capable of writing Python scripts that leverage the Minecraft API to implement teleportation mechanics, allowing players to move between different destinations within the game.
3) Robotic Catapults
Sci Eng Robotics Pathway
Friday | June 28 | 3hrs | AM or PM Session
Challenge –
Embark on the ultimate engineering adventure by designing, coding, and testing a robotic catapult! Your challenge is to build a mechanized catapult using micro:bit board, servo motor, Lego technic bricks, and code it to launch projectiles with precision, and rigorously test its capabilities. This hands-on project will sharpen your engineering and programming skills, turning you into a master of robotic artillery.
Learning Objectives –
- Mechanical Design and Construction:
- Objective: Gain proficiency in designing and constructing a functional robotic catapult.
- Outcome: Students will be able to analyze mechanical principles, select appropriate materials, and construct a reliable robotic catapult with a focus on structural integrity and launching capabilities.
- Coding and Automation:
- Objective: Develop coding skills to automate the robotic catapult’s launching mechanism.
- Outcome: Students will acquire programming knowledge to control motors or servos, enabling precise and programmable launching of projectiles. This objective emphasizes the integration of coding and mechanical components for effective automation.
