Invest in their Early Edu & Prepare them for THEIR Future!
How we roll
Our main goal is to use modern tools and teaching methodologies to help train the brain’s neural network for creative problem-solving, innovation, and analytical + critical thinking! The videos below are some of the Hands-on, In-person Labs that allow us to 1) get to know each student personally 2) tailor their learning needs individually 3) provide mentorship as they advance their educational careers. How do we do this? Well, our classes are grouped by development and have a Student-Teacher ratio of 8:1 🙌 Furthermore, we have regular lab field trips and activities so that our students create a network of friends in a positive environment to grow together!
The STEAMwhiz Curriculum

Our Science Technology Engineering Art Math classes are designed to teach students (ages 6-14 yrs old) how to innovate and think creatively. While there are many STEM boxes/programs that are great to spark interest, they typically stress following a set of instructions and lack the depth needed to develop critical problem-solving skills. The primary objective of our STEAMwhiz courses’ is to teach the ‘process’ of innovating and creative problem-solving. This state-of-the-art curriculum is developed in-house by the STEAM-TEAM. All our programs exceed NY State and NGSS standards by a mile. Our purpose is to proactively fill the gaps in the current education system and prepare students for their future, not our past.

Year-Round Programs

To ingrain new brain patterns, it’s important to develop positive habits on a regular schedule. Being a local education center based in Guilderland, NY we are able to offer several opportunities to our community to do just that. Students ages 6-14 yrs old will work in a small group setting (6:1 student-teacher ratio) and learn to solve problems together!

The Lab

Did you know there are 700+ coding languages in use today? There is no substitute for getting hands-on in lab and we are constantly adding new tools to enrich the learning experience. So, while modern tools are invaluable to the learning experience, in the end they are just that, a tool. We use them to provide new ways for students to innovate and foster creative problem-solving habits. When students learn to do this, they will be able to pick-up new tools on-the-fly and apply them to solve the problems of tomorrow. Its the process not the tools!

STEAMwhiz Labs – BOCES NY: NYS Science & Computer Standards, Solved!
We are BOCES Approved Provider meaning our programs are eligible for state aid reimbursement, providing exceptional value and stretching your district’s budget. We provided a one-stop shop for your NYS Science & Computer aligned standards, where we bring the expert instructors & technology via our mobile labs.
All Organizations are Welcome!
We do all things STEAM related, and our mission is to prepare students to be creative problem solvers for their future! So we work with all kinds of organizations, including:
- K-8 School Full-fledged STEAM curriculum
- Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) enrichment programs during or after school
- Technology badges for troops
- Enrichment programs at libraries
- Homeschool/co-ops & small group programs
- Special events
- Partnering with the University of Albany for the STEP program
The ‘STEAM’ team consists of professionals with over 20 years of experience working with organizations such as schools, camps, libraries, and other large-scale programs. Dr. J has also mentored several students throughout the higher education process (undergraduate -> PhD -> PostDoc -> Industry), and used his accomplished career as a base for numerous motivational talks to students of diverse backgrounds similar to his own. You can learn more about the STEAM-TEAM here.
STEAMwhiz offers flexibility, including 1-day events, as well as quarterly or year-round curricula that are fundamentally deep and technical. We also work closely with schools/programs to fulfill science-related state requirements for grades 1-12. Contact us to schedule a meeting and discover how we can support you!
Cancellation & Make-up Policy
During the School Year
Our Community Commitment & Cancellation Policy
At STEAMwhiz, our ability to provide a high-quality, project-based curriculum with small class sizes depends on the commitment of our families. Your enrollment is more than a transaction; it’s an investment in a shared educational vision that allows us to plan for materials, secure our specialized staff, and ensure a stable learning environment for every child. We’ve designed our cancellation policy to be as fair as possible while protecting the sustainability of this community.
For Full-Year & Semester Partnership Plans:
We understand that circumstances can change. If you need to withdraw from a future, un-started semester, you can receive a full refund for that semester’s tuition by providing written notice at least two weeks prior to its start date.
Because we purchase materials and finalize staffing based on enrollment, we are unable to offer refunds for a semester that is already in progress. For true, extenuating circumstances that arise mid-semester, we will happily work with your family to provide a pro-rated credit that can be used for a future STEAMwhiz program.
For the Flex (Month-to-Month) Plan:
We offer the Flex Plan as a great way for new families to get to know our programs. To ensure class stability for all our students, we require a 30-day written notice to pause or cancel your monthly membership. This means your final payment will occur after you provide notice, covering the last month of classes. This policy helps us manage our small class sizes and gives us a fair opportunity to fill any open spots.
Make-Up Policy & Innovation Lab Week:
We know that life happens! That’s why each of our 12-week semesters includes a built-in Innovation Lab Week, which typically aligns with a school holiday break. This week serves as the primary opportunity for any student who has missed a class to catch up on their work.
For students with perfect attendance, this week becomes a fun, free Bonus Lab where they can apply their new skills, work on passion projects, and get personalized mentorship from our instructors.
During Summer STEAM Boot Camp
At STEAMwhiz, we operate as a high-performance Learning Lab, not a high-volume daycare. To guarantee our strict 9:1 student-to-mentor average ratio and provide the high-end equipment (3D printers, VEX Robotics, and CAD workstations) necessary for “Hard Fun,” we meticulously plan our rosters months in advance. To support our families, we offer a Risk-Free Early Bird Window: Any registration for the camp season is eligible for a full refund (minus a $35 administrative fee) if requested in writing by March 1. Between March 2nd and 30 days prior to your session start date, we offer a 50% refund or a 100% STEAMwhiz credit toward a future lab. Within 30 days of the session, all tuition is non-refundable as we have already committed resources and staffing to your child’s seat. We appreciate your commitment to the Academic Athlete philosophy—by locking in your spot, you are ensuring a focused, elite environment for every innovator in the room. Please contact us as early as possible to see how we can help.
