Expert-Led Turn-Key STEM for NYSSLS & CSDF

Solve your toughest NYS Science (NYSSLS) and Computer Science & Digital Fluency (CSDF) standards. We provide a turn-key, expert-led solution either as a field trip to our state-of-the-art lab or with all high-tech equipment brought directly to your classroom.

Official BOCES-Aidable Provider (Co-Ser 411–5842)

The Challenge You’re Facing

The new NYSSLS and CSDF standards are a major shift. They demand hands-on engineering, computational thinking, and lessons in complex topics like robotics, AI, and 3D modeling.

Teacher Burnout

Teachers are already overwhelmed. They don’t have the prep time to develop new, expert-level curricula for robotics, AI, and coding.

The Expertise Gap

How do you teach AI or advanced STEM? Finding and retaining staff with this specialized, real-world knowledge is a constant challenge.

Program Stability

A school’s STEM program is fragile. It can fail when the in-house expert leaves, or when the expensive new equipment turns out to be buggy, unreliable, or a poor fit for the classroom.

Our Solution: A True Turn-Key Partner

We Are BOCES-Aidable

Our programs are approved as a BOCES Co-Ser, allowing your district to receive state aid reimbursement. This makes our expert-led labs highly affordable and budget-friendly.

We Are Qualified Experts

Our educators are dedicated STEM specialists, refining their craft year-round. Their expert instruction leads to real results, with our students winning national championships (Future City) and becoming VEX Robotics World Finalists.

A True Turn-Key Solution

Our turn-key solution guarantees a sustainable program. We provide the expert instructors, proven curricula, and all high-tech equipment, eliminating your capital costs. As tech experts, we vet every tool to ensure reliable, effective labs—not failed experiments.

Our Standards-Based Labs

All labs are designed to directly address the NYSSLS and CSDF standards.

High-Tech MakerLabs (Grades 2-8)

This isn’t just building blocks. Students are challenged to become real engineers. Using VEX IQ robotics, they’ll apply the full Engineering Design Process to solve a concrete problem. They’ll brainstorm, build, test, and iterate, mastering core concepts of physics, computer science, and collaborative problem-solving in a thrilling, hands-on environment.

Standards Met:
  • 3-5-ETS1-1, MS-ETS1-1, MS-ETS1-2, MS-PS2-2

Take physics from the textbook to the skies! Students code educational drones using either simple blocks or powerful Python to navigate complex obstacle courses. This lab is a thrilling, high-energy way to make abstract concepts like force, motion, gravity, and vectors completely unforgettable. It’s a perfect blend of computational thinking and real-world physics.

Standards Met:
  • MS-PS2-2, 3-5-ETS1-2, MS-ETS1-4

Unlock the power of the platform your students already love. We use Minecraft Education to create immersive, safe, and effective virtual labs. Students will build functional series and parallel circuits with Redstone (a concept that’s difficult and expensive to replicate with physical hardware) or use the Chemistry Lab to construct elements and compounds, all while mastering core standards.

Standards Met:
  • 4-PS3-2, MS-PS2-3 (circuits)
  • 5-PS1-1, MS-PS1-1 (chemistry)

Go from imagination to creation. Students learn to “think like an engineer” by designing real-world solutions in Tinkercad. This lab is a direct, hands-on application of the ‘Developing and Using Models’ SEP. Students will design and print scaled models of atoms, molecules, simple machines, or even their own unique inventions, turning abstract ideas into physical objects.

Standards Met:
  • MS-PS1-1, MS-LS1-2, 3-5-ETS1-2, MS-ETS1-4

Demystify the most important technology of our time. This lab goes beyond the hype and teaches students *how* AI actually works. Using curriculum developed by our National Lab experts, students will train, test, and challenge their own AI models. It’s a powerful and crucial lesson in ‘Analyzing and Interpreting Data’ and ‘Computational Thinking’ that prepares them for the future.

Standards Met:
  • 3-5-ETS1-2, MS-ETS1-3

Hands-On Core Science Labs (Grades 1-5)

A foundational physics lab that sparks pure curiosity! Students investigate the fascinating properties of light, exploring how it can be blocked, bounced (reflection), and bent (refraction). They’ll experiment with shadows, create rainbows, and discover how light truly works in a tangible, memorable way.

Standards Met:
  • 1-PS4-2, 1-PS4-3, 4-PS4-2

An essential lab for every young scientist. Students use the Scientific Method to investigate the invisible forces of magnetism. Are all metals magnetic? What is a magnetic field? Students will explore attraction and repulsion, magnetic levitation, and the fundamental principles of electromagnetism in this classic, hands-on lab.

Standards Met:
  • 3-PS2-3, 3-PS2-4

See the Law of Conservation of Energy in action! Students design, build, test, and modify a “spool racer” powered by elastic energy. They will directly observe how stored potential energy is converted into kinetic (motion) energy, all while engaging with the Engineering Design Process to make their racer faster and more efficient.

Standards Met:
  • 4-PS3-1, 4-PS3-2, 3-5-ETS1-1

How to Bring Steamwhiz to Your School

Getting our labs is simple. We help you use the funding avenues you already have.

For Teachers

Love our “no-prep” labs? The best way to get them is to show this page to your Principal. You can request our programs be funded from the district’s BOCES budget, which doesn’t come out of your school’s budget.

Your Action: Talk to your Principal or Curriculum Coordinator.

For Principals

You have multiple options. You can request our program be paid for from the district’s central BOCES budget (the best value), your own building-level enrichment budget, or through your PTA.

Your Action: Contact us for a free demo or use our Co-Ser (411–5842) in your district service request.

For PTAs & Parents

You can be a “budget multiplier!” Because our programs are BOCES-aidable, every dollar you raise has a bigger impact. When you fund our program, the district gets a large portion of the cost back as state aid.

Your Action: Partner with your Principal to fund a program using our BOCES Co-Ser.
